Drafts are the core of Rundraft. You can create as many as you need, keep them organized, and pick up right where you left off — your work is always saved automatically.

Creating a draft

1

Open Rundraft

Launch Rundraft from your Applications folder or the menu bar.
2

Start a new draft

Click the New Draft button in the toolbar, or go to File > New Draft in the menu bar.
3

Give your draft a title

Click the title field at the top of the editor and type a name. Titles help you find drafts quickly in your list.
4

Write your content

Click in the editor area below the title and start typing. The editor supports plain text and Markdown formatting.
Press ⌘N to create a new draft from anywhere in the app without reaching for the mouse.

Editing a draft

Click any draft in the sidebar to open it. The editor is always ready — click anywhere in the content area to place your cursor and start typing. You can edit the title at any time by clicking it at the top of the draft.

Auto-save

Rundraft saves your work automatically as you type. There is no Save button to click. If you close a draft or quit the app, your content is preserved exactly as you left it.

Organizing drafts

Keep your drafts tidy using folders and tags:
  • Folders — Right-click in the sidebar and select New Folder to group related drafts together. Drag drafts into any folder to move them.
  • Tags — Open a draft and click Add Tag in the inspector panel on the right. Tags appear in the sidebar so you can filter drafts by topic or project.
To rename a folder, double-click its name in the sidebar and type a new one.

Deleting a draft

To delete a draft, right-click it in the sidebar and select Move to Trash. You can also select the draft and press ⌘Delete.
Deleted drafts go to the Trash and are removed permanently when you empty it. Make sure you have exported or copied any content you want to keep before deleting.
