Rundraft gives you several ways to get your content out of the app — whether you’re collaborating with others, sending a draft for review, or saving a finished document.
1

Open the draft you want to share

Click the draft in the sidebar to open it in the editor.
2

Click Share

Click the Share button in the toolbar, or go to File > Share in the menu bar.
3

Choose Link

In the share sheet, select Copy Link. Rundraft generates a unique URL for that draft and copies it to your clipboard.
4

Send the link

Paste the link in an email, message, or anywhere else. Recipients can open it in their browser without installing Rundraft.
Recipients with a shared link can view the draft in read-only mode. They cannot edit the content or see your other drafts. To revoke access, open Share and select Disable Link.

Exporting a draft

To save your draft as a file, go to File > Export and choose a format:
FormatBest for
Plain Text (.txt)Simple, universal text that opens anywhere
Markdown (.md)Formatted text for developers, static sites, or note apps
PDF (.pdf)Sharing a finished, print-ready document
Choose a location on your Mac and click Export. The file is saved to your chosen folder and your original draft in Rundraft is unchanged.

Copying content to clipboard

To quickly copy the full text of a draft without exporting a file, go to Edit > Copy All or press ⌥⌘C. The entire draft content is placed on your clipboard, ready to paste anywhere.

Permissions when sharing

  • Shared links are view-only by default — recipients cannot make changes.
  • A link stays active until you disable it. There is no expiry date.
  • Only you can see who has access. Recipient activity is not tracked.
If you need a collaborator to edit a draft, export it as a Markdown or plain text file and share the file directly so they can work in their own editor.
