Follow these steps to get Rundraft installed and ready to use.

System requirements

Before you install, make sure your Mac meets the following requirements:
  • macOS 13 Ventura or later
  • Apple Silicon or Intel Mac — Rundraft runs natively on both

Install Rundraft

1

Download Rundraft

Visit the Rundraft website and click Download. Your browser will download a .dmg file to your Downloads folder.
2

Open the disk image

Double-click the downloaded .dmg file to open it. A window will appear showing the Rundraft app icon alongside your Applications folder.
3

Drag Rundraft to Applications

Drag the Rundraft icon into the Applications folder shortcut in the same window. macOS will copy the app to your Applications folder.
4

Eject the disk image

Once the copy is complete, eject the disk image by right-clicking it in the Finder sidebar and selecting Eject.
5

Launch Rundraft

Open Launchpad or your Applications folder and click Rundraft to launch it for the first time.
The first time you open Rundraft, macOS may display a security prompt because the app was downloaded from the internet. If you see a message saying the app “cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer,” go to System SettingsPrivacy & Security and click Open Anyway next to the Rundraft entry. This is a standard macOS Gatekeeper check — it does not indicate a problem with the app.

After installation

Once Rundraft is open, you may be asked to grant a few permissions — for example, access to certain folders if you choose to import or export files. Grant only the permissions you need; Rundraft will prompt you at the relevant moment. You’re now ready to create your first draft. Head to the Quick Start guide to get going.
